Yes we are building our chicken coop from scratch to finish, what I need to know~what doI use for padding for the nesting boxes?

I use straw in mine. This summer, I'm going to add aroma therapy to my hens!! Look at this link. It's so fun and pretty. Also, please check out my coop. It may give you some good ideas on construction and also teaches the great benefits of sand in the coop! In the photos, you'll see that there are no dividers between my nest boxes. I have since added some. The girls needed privacy. Welcome to the world of chicken keeping and welcome to BYC!

What’s cheap and easy? There are a whole lot of things people use. I prefer straw or hay, something like that. Lately I’ve been cutting some really tall grass, letting it dry, and using that. People use wood shavings, Spanish moss, shredded paper, carpet, about anything you can imagine.

I've used straw, that paper critter bedding you get from the pet store, dry leaves from my yard, dried grass, rubber shelf liner, shavings, you name it. My hens seem to prefer the pine shavings, so I've stuck with that for a while now ;)

I forgot to tell you that the Nesting Boxes have a roll out bar so how would that work with some padding? what kind should I use.

Thanks,
Rayma

You could just use some cheap carpet. That would allow the eggs to roll out. That's what I would use if I had a roll out nest box.

Thanks So Much, I have been learning so much from this site.
We have just put our 4 week chicks out into their new coop. They really love the room to run around.

I love your coop-I will have to send you the pictures as soon as my husband and I get the rest of outside finsihed up. the inside is coming alonejust fine. Can't wait until we can let the Chicks run loose in the yard after we put up the fencing.
