Paint vs Natural Wood

Now that we have work in progress, the questions are coming; starting (prematurly) with paint.
I tried to do a search on paint so I wouldn't have post a question that's probably been asked a thousand times but I came up empty. Maybe I'm not using the search option correctly. But anyway; we're debating on painting the walls vs leaving them natural. I want to paint them semi gloss white. Easy to clean and will brighten up the coop. Any reason not to?

We left the interior natural but painted the coop to match our home using the same paint on the exterior.

Mine are natural. They have yet to poop on the walls

As long as you let the paint dry and de-fume well before putting chickens in (of course), the only downside is that it microscopically increases the world consumption of paint, if you care about that. Make sure to prime first, tho, or you will be dealing with peely paint which is probably not good for the chickens and certainly a big pain in the butt to scrape and repair.

Paint brightens up the coop, makes it easier to clean (hoses/scrubs off easier, dries faster), and at least theoretically closes up a bunch of leetle tiny crevices where mites etc could potentially hide.

My tractor is painted semi-gloss white inside on the parts that have more cleaning issues, e.g. the floor -- and I would have done the entire inside if I'd had more primer and more energy

I realize that paint is not necessary but for the reasons patandchickens mentioned, I think it would look better/brighter. I was just concerned that there may be reasons why I should not paint (e.g. health issues to the chickens).
Thanks patandchickens about the tip on priming too, I probably would have overlooked that.
