Can/Should chicks be moved into coop/run before it's painted? Our coop is almost done, but it keeps raining and preventing us from staining/painting. It needs 3 days of warm dry weather and we are just not getting those days. My question is, can the chicks go into the coop anyway and stain it at a later date? Can one paint in the am and still close them up at night? I want to paint the inside of the house to make it easier to clean.
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

You can paint later, but I would have an alternate place for the chicks to stay that first night after painting. If the coop is closed up for the night, even with good ventilation, I'd be concerned about fumes.

I would think by the next night that you could close the chicks up, but be cautious if you still smell strong fumes.

I painted my coop (but not the inside) and let it air for 3 days before introducing my chicks to it. Though the 3 days was overkill - I was going out of town that weekend so I left the chicks in their brooder box. One day probably would have sufficed, and I would have done two just to be safe.
