What kinda paint should I paint the inside of my homemade wooden bator with, I was told to paint the inside of it to keep the wood from soaking up the humidity, is this right ? & also it is made out of 1 inch plywood will that be inslated enough or should I inslate it more, shurly it will hold heat better than stryofome, thanks

Will 1 inch plywood hold the heat good, or do i need more, i think it will hold good, but i have never built one out of wood before.

3/4 should be fine so 1" will be more than enough. The thing is you want a thermostat in there so it will regulate the temp for you.

As the eggs get more developed they start to generate their own heat. If you dont' have a thermostat you can get spikes in temp when you don't want them.

You can wire up a house thermostat to an auto relay - I have a simple wire diagram if you are interested. You use a cell phone charger to power the thermostat & relay & a power cord to run a light or two or what ever your heat element is.

I use a house thermostat - other stats are far more accurate - but my chicks hatch so I guess its good enough.

For my bator I used 1/2 " cedar pickets I had & lined the inside with foil faced foam board I got at menards for $10 - I only used half of it.

Got the wafer thermostat to go in it & a pc fan, so I am going to put er together.
