Painting the duck house

So I've got my plans for how I want the duck house to be built, but I'm wondering about paint. Is there a certain kind of paint that would be better than others, or any kind I should stay away from? I think I'm just going to paint the outside and leave the inside unfinished. Does it matter one way or the other? Do I need to seal the wood if I leave it unfinished?

Sorry for all the questions. I did a search but couldn't find an answer.

I used an exterior latex paint. Not sure what finish. I just painted the inside. I used fence boards to make my duck house, so I was happy to leave the exterior unpainted.
And then I painted 4 or 5 coats on the inside. I hose it out daily.

I used solid color stain on the outside of my houses, I left the inside with out paint.

I am painting my ducks new house. With exterior gloss paint like the kind you would use to paint a front door. Using light blue for the majority of it and a green for the edging

Thank you. I figured it would have to be some type of exterior paint.

Can't wait to see pics! I love looking at other peoples duck houses! Now I just have to figure out a color for mine.

Check out the oops paint racks at lowes and home depot. I found a 5 gallon bucket of white semi gloss exterior paint for $30, normally over $100. I bought a quart exterior paint and had it tinted a dark purple. Now I have a lovely lavender for my coop and duck houses:-D

Ok I have been painting for hours and it's still not finished but it's looking pretty what do you think?

Lucky5101 did you choose a colour yet? My kids chose blue and green and I was allowed to find shades of said colours that I actually liked

Jenniemig a lavender house sounds beautiful. Do you have any pictures?
