I searched archives but couldn't find anything about chicken's comb going pale and shriveling up during a molt. My 15 month old White Leghorn hen, who has always had a beautiful large bright red comb has gone into a hard molt, and her comb has just flopped over on itself, shriveled up and gone very pale. She is still very active free ranging , eating well and drinking. I have not been able to catch her pooping. She is not laying, and is eating Feather Fixer with extra protein such as fish on Sundays. She is very ratting looking right now, but I read her that pale combs indicate sickness. Any ideas?
