In the Brooder
So after creeping on here for months
, I finally needed to post for some help. I have 6 young hens ~23 weeks old. 2 barred rock, 2 australorps and 2 production âblue Plymouth rocksâ which I know theyâre not officially but weâll call them production blues. 4 out of the six are laying thus far but Iâve noticed a few of them have paler combs lately with some dark spots. I also have noticed some looser stools. Mainly in the morning when I go clean up their poo itâs easy to see the pine shavings are more clear wet streaks on the shavings than having piles of actual droppings under the roosting bars like they normally did. It seems like there are less piles each morning and more wet shavings instead. I donât see any mites or lice signs. I clean the coop regularly but did noticed the slightest bit of diarrhea (I mean the very slightest) on some of their bums just today. Itâs mostly that I noticed it in the coop with the wet pine shavings.
I donât notice any other weakness or lethargy. Theyâve been happily free ranging during at least a few hours a day or more on the weekends but Iâm at a loss as to whether anythingâs really wrong or not. We have some trees that produce berries that they been eating lately. It hasnât been overly hot and theyâve been eating all the scraps and normal pellets as far as I can tell. Am I just over reacting?
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!!
