Wondering if anyone has used pallet boards as the roof on a coop and then shingled those?🤔 trying to figure out a cheaper route than having to buy two more sheets of plywood as lumber is ridiculous right now.

Yeh pallets are really good.
Just make sure it's water tight!

There's no reason I know of why you couldn't use pallet boards to support shingles if you are careful fitting them and installing the shingles -- people used shingles before plywood was invented, after all.

A lot of people are using metal or PVC roof panels right now because of the high price of plywood and lumber.

YES !
I would put roofing paper on top before shingles.
If you have Craigslist near you that is active, go on the FREE section. There are usually pallets and un-used shingles on there, at least around here there is.

I like the coop to be dark from the lights outside, it will also keep it cooler inside too.
