Parasites

I've had chickens for the last year....I clean their coop everyday. Today when I went to clean the coop I noticed a small 1 1/2" worm like parasite in one of the droppings. Do I need to deworm my chickens? I've never heard of anyone doing so? If so, what should I use.

I have 5 hens...they have a wadding pool, sand tub to play in...They live in a mobile chicken coop with a 20' yard and I move it once a week. I was surprised to see the parasite.

I'm knocking wood, I've never had to worm my birds - yet. But it sure sounds like you need to. Do a search for worms and/or worming to see what to use, I'm not sure.

I recommend using wazine 17 first, then 2 weeks later follow up with only one of these three wormers; Safeguard, Valbazen, Ivermectin Pour On.....your choice.
