When I let the chickens out to free range today, one of them was just standing still and walking slowly. Her tail was not down, she was not egg bound. Her vent was leaking a very small amount of pale green opaque liquid, so I immediately thought vent gleet. I cleaned her and treated her with antifungal cream, and set her down. She walked over to the grass and stood there for around 5-10 mins as I cleaned out the coop, with head and neck pulled close to body. I went over and saw this:
On the ground was an intact yolk and some white, along with what I suspect to be inner membrane/soft shell around some of the white. She started to walk away and the membrane thing fell off, but I suspect there is still more inside.
For the next 15-20 mins she stood in the same place trying to push something out, head and neck close to body and eyes closed.
My question is: can I do anything to help her, or should I just leave her to push it out on her own?
Edit: She had already laid a normal egg that day. Her face had gone pale the whole time she was trying to do this.
Update: I just checked on her, after letting her sleep in the coop over night, she was sitting in the nest box with tail at half mast. Vent looked fine. I tried to get her to eat or drink but she wasn't having it. The only thing out of the ordinary I noticed was this poop:
Though I don't know if that's normal or not. Any help is appreciated
