Saddle and Hackle feathers are the Pointed Feathers on a Rooster.

Feathered outlined with ONE stripe on the edge is laced.

(EX : Buff Laced, Golden Laced, Silver Laced)

Any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Partridge is a penciled pattern. It is the gold variant of Silver Penciled. Look in the APA Standard of Perfection at the Silver Penciled Feather pattern plate to see exactly what the Partridge feather pattern should look like, only mahagony in place of the silver/gray base color in the female and the silver in the males.

thanks so are the hackle feathers on the neck area and the saddle on the back?I know somebody gave a list of the differences in the feathering spangled, penciled, laced but I can't find it.I need to post pix of my roo but I have an antique puter and it can't do it.He is so pretty but I don't know if he is laced partridge or what.He is black w/bright orange hackle and saddle feathers and the ones on his back are outlined on the edges

And Partridge neck hackles in males should be more bay or mahogany than orange - any significant tendency toward orange/yellow being less desireable. Mahogany or bay(dark red) and the heavier black markings more correct, rather than orangy or yellowy and thinner black sporadic markings. And the male saddle feathers bay or mahogany and gleaming like gems.

And yes, I love a good male partridge
