I have a 3 month old Partridge Plymouth Rock that has been attacked twice by my rooster. I initially thought it was a hen, but am now concerned that maybe she is a he considering that my rooster doesn't like it. Please help me figure this out.
Thank you both for the help. Im not really sure what to think of the "attacks." The first one wasn't very pretty. She was wounded and bleeding behind her right wing and the bone was exposed. I quarantined her for weeks to let her heal. A few days ago I reintegrated her with my flock as well as two other young chicks. They did well throughout the day and night, but the next morning she had another wound and bleeding by her tail. Now I'm trying to understand why she has been attacked this bad two times. Both times she has been integrated with other chicks and she remains the only one getting wounded. Thank you for any help. I'm stumped.
Roosters can be rough and he might be too large for her, thus wounding her when he takes hold with his feet. Try getting her a saddle? It might prevent him from digging his claws in.
