pasty butt in 2/6 chicks I just got

Run their butts under warm (90 degree F) water and very gently rub the poo. It'll soften and come off. DO NOT PICK IT OFF. Pat dry the chick and put it back in the brooder.

Make sure the brooder is the correct temp, between 90-95 deg at roughly 2" above the ground.

Get a washrag with warm water and set them on it for a bit to soften the paste, then gently trip to wipe it off. If it doesn't come off easily, then repeat with the rag. Then use a hair dryer on low heat to dry off the chick. Hope this helps. Check your chicks everyday in the area of their vent. I have wet wipes by the brooder box to aid.
