Hello,
so two days ago my mama chick hatched her 7 baby chicks and one of then had pasty butt i think and i cleand his vent with warm water. But today i notice that his vent isn't moving and he is trying to poop but he can't. I soked him for 5min in warm water and massaged his vent. Then i also put some olive oil on vent and massage it and put it back to mama. Can someone tell me what can it be is this normal after pasty butt of?
Thanks for advice☺️

hello! i am so sorry about your chick, i hope other members can help you. pasty butt must be treated immediately since it may be fatal as it is unable to poop and has constipation. i am not well educated and would not like to give you false information, so i’ll wait tomador the other members😉

I lost one baby to pasty butt with my very first chickies I ever got. So I studied up on it and when the next one came down with it (both were from TS) I was ready. All the things that you just outlined that your did is exactly right. Just do it twice a day and use a q-tip with the olive oil and work it around the vent and you should see improvement quickly.
Positive thoughts to you and your baby
