What should I look for when checking for pasty butt? I think one or two of my chicks have it, but I'm not too sure. Please help, I don't want to lose any of my babies.

pasty butt should be relatively easy to spot. look for any dried poop around the vent area. if there is than remove it carefully. a scissors might be needed, and u don't want to pull out any of the chicks fluff, just cut it. if it looks like everything is clear of the vent then it should be fine

I hold my babies butts under a stream of warm water then wipe with a paper towel :) I also put coconut oil on their little behinds, vaseline as recommended...lol

Pasty butt will appear as caked, dried droppings around the vent area. The chick also may be peeping loudly and/or acting lifeless. It's caused by stress from either shipping, change in routine, being pecked/bullied, being too warm or too cold, not receiving water/food or a dog or other terrorizing animal bothering them. I wash their behinds with warm water, (no soap) apply coconut oil or vaseline and put apple cider vinegar in the water.

Good luck!
