why in the world do my chickens insist on hanging out on my patio.
for a while i would just chase them off but now they are no longer scared of me and just run around the patio table. its amusing for my neighbors but no fun for me.

Have you considered either fencing in your patio or fencing off part of your yard for the chickens? I've some friends who had the same problem and ended up fencing off half their yard for the chickens. They got sick of scrubbing chicken poo off their patio furniture!

Take a hose and everytime they get on the patio give them a good squirt. It worked for me.

I use a spray bottle and give them a squirt, just like a puppy. It's easy enough to get them from inside (it goes right through the screen door) or outside the house and small enough that I can hook it on my back pocket when they are free ranging. When it comes from inside, they run away and then look around with a stunned "What the???" look....
