Good day! I have lived all over the place but Texas was always home, and then somehow we ended up retired in Pennsylvania. We had chickens a while back and all I can think is that we had tremendous amounts of beginners luck. Now that I have read more about what can go wrong, I have no idea how our chickens did so well. Anyway, my friend and I have decided to raise chickens again and we have gone a little chick crazy. We want our flock to be self sustaining so we do have a few males thrown in with our mostly female chicks. We have quite a mix, Dominiques, Marans, Cochin, Easter Eggers, I think one Lavender Orp and several we are not sure what they are. Oh, also 3 banties of unknown breed and three ISA Browns.
i am very glad to be here and hope to learn from all of you.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
