Paulding County Georgia restrictions. I'm wanting to raise chickens for eggs. But having issues I only have 1/2 an acre. Which is fine if the chickens have a closed in run and coops. But they want it to be centered 45 feet off the property lines 100 feet from the road. And I can only have 5 hens. Is there a way to get around this? Or change it?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You can get an aerial view of your property from Google maps and draw out a plan of where you want to place your coop and run along with a detailed description of how you will manage your birds (cleaning, manure disposal, pest prevention) and take it to the Town to request a variance. I would speak with any impacted neighbors to get their blessing (in writing) before approaching the Town.
Good luck.

Welcome to BYC from Heard county about 1hr south of you.

Wow sounds like they pretty much made it impossible, city’s way of saying we won’t make it illegal, but we will restrict you so hard you will give up.

Good news I would think since we are in Ga, doing as mentioned above about getting a variance, will probably work. I’m assuming you live in the metropolis area of Hiram, who think they are little Atlanta. Hopefully they are still southern enough, to grant a variance and allow you some type of set up.

Just for laughs we got 4 of our chics last week at TSC in Dallas .. wife supposedly hates this chicken idea but was trying to help me locate 2 more RIRs called TSC all around she looked up the speckled Sussex and said I want these and away we went lol
