Is 9 weeks too early to tell for this breed? Here are my 2 babies, hoping they’re both hens🤞🏻 My daughter has named them Elvis and Elvistevia 🤣

I really don’t know how to identify this breed. But I’m very uneducated guess would be pullet lol…sorry I wish I could be more helpful. I was looking at the feathering and for me it’s kinda hard to see. Elvis kind looks like the feathers are pointed where as Elvestiva looks like the feathers are more rounded. So if I would be right that Elvis would be cockerel and Elvestiva would be pullet.

I hope someone can give you a better answer.

It’s very hard for me to tell, due to the coloration and patterns- they’re pretty skittish and it can play tricks on my eyes as they move. Plus this is my first time with this breed so I have no idea!! I know some breeds are much harder to sex until they reach maturity and tbh I don’t know whether this is one such breed or not! Maybe my daughter had the right idea when she named them 🤣

Honestly from what I can see, I would go with what your daughter named them 😂. I could be WAY wrong. I’m still learning but I don’t have anything like these guys. My 11yr old wants us to get Silkies. I haven’t made a complete decision yet but I stated that the male would be Elvis and then one of the girls would have to be Priscilla. And since they kinda look like Albert Einstein, another girl would be Albertastein. From there we could negotiate. 😂

Looking @ a couple sites the golden/black combo (I want to call her laced but she's more mottled) is definitely a pullet. They're adorable. I'm thinking the darker may be a male. Maybe email Greenfire Farms and see what they think (since they breed them). The way your darker one is growing (tail , and flecks of color coming through on the neck) compared to the gold/black is what makes me think it's a little cockerel. Since their breed is Russian in origin, they make me think of Bullwinkle (as a kid) and the Russian Spies on there, Boris and Natasha.😁 They're really cute little chickens.
