Peachick throat problem

A 20 days old peachick showing laziness, down wings and close eyes. He drinks some water and started '' gapping his beak'' when i check on him it seems something is lodged in his throat. I read a thread stating that these are the symptoms of ''gapeworms'' plzz suggest me any treatment any medicine

@Zohaib , I don't think a 20 day old chick will have been alive long enough to have a gapeworm problem. The lifecycle of the worms would (I think) take longer than that to cause a problem -- and if the chick hasn't been outside, it probably hasn't been exposed.

If there is something in his throat, he may have swallowed something inappropriate -- make sure you are looking down the correct tube.

At 20 days old, he could easily have coccidiosis -- that is treated with corid (amprolium) and/or dimethox (sulfa antibiotics).

If you have a vet available, I would consult with him or her.

In the meantime, get a weight on the chick, check to see what the chick's poo looks like, and isolate the chick from the other birds. Make sure it doesn't dehydrate. (Use pedialyte if you can get it). There are some other infectious disease possibilities too, but cocci is pretty commonly a problem.

Edited to add -- also, if chicks are too hot, they will look as though they are gasping for air, so make sure they are not overheated. He needs to stay warm, but not too hot to breathe comfortably.

Garden peas,I guess something other was stuck in his throat that went down when i rub his throat with finger and chick is fine now. Thanks for giving information about diseases.
