it's what i've been using since i've moved to VA simply because i couldn't find what i was used to feeding (purina gamebird starter)...while i haven't noticed any difference in the chicks, i find the food a little more coarse than the little ones like it ... i either grind it between my fingers (pretty well callused) or use a coffee grinder for at least the first week of feeding ( i also leave bigger chunk in their bowls, so i know when i can stop with the added agita) .... they love it when you grind it w/ your fingers from their bowl-- good way to make friends w/ them

I feed the same brand but I use starter for the peas and quail. I use starter/grower when I only have chicken chicks. Might be my imagination but the starter seems a bit finer. I crush it up with my fingers some for the quail but didn't have any problems with the peas.
