Deerman,
Do you know anyway to tell the age of mature peafowl? We have 2 trios of India Blues, the older trio is "supposed" to be about 6 years old but we have always wondered if they are older than that. The younger trio is 3 this year and their isn't much difference between the two other than the length of the train feathers.

The younger trio are laying like clockwork, egg every other day, sometimes everyday. The older trio is spotty at laying. Both are in breeding pens, wormed before breeding season.

The older pair we bought at auction so that was why we always questioned the true age or were they sold because they were poor layers? The third hen was added later from a different source.

Steve after 3 its get hard. A 3 yr will have a smaller train than a 4 or 5 yr old, by a few in. They live pass 20 yrs, I do have one that is 23 yr, and he does get a smaller train. Check spurs on hens 2 yr or older will have them.

But to tell the age 5 to 20 would be hard to do. Like anything at the end, they start having eye problems, trouble walking. Fertile problems. One of my old peahen went blind.

Lot like your Turkey older they get after 2 the harder to tell their age, until those later years. Sure you can tell a very old tom or hen

I now leg band all mine, keep good records.

I'll check the hens and let you know. On the turkeys we rotate every 2nd year. The yearlings have the best fertility and hatchability. We only have one turkey now that is older than 2, she is a special Midget White hen named Sugar that is retired.
