Well I showed up to a chicken swap at the last hour. THere were two peacocks waiting to be adopted. One nice lady and I were admiring them and fell for the info they gave us on how to take care of them. I do have a small flock of hens with a small coop, average size covered run and then a much larger size open fenced run. WE let them free range whenever we can. I was told he would be fine put in the enclosed run with the hens being able to go out but not him, after two weeks I could let him out and he wouldn't take off, didn't need an enclosure and slept in the trees. He would free range with the hens and it would be as simple as that.
So now I'm educating myself on the forum and find everyone has huge enclosed runs with netting on top. THat we should keep him enclosed for at least two months! WE were (before getting the peacock) at the point of taking town the covered small run and just letting the hens out in the tall fenced run all of the time. THe enclosed one has a tarp over it and we are sick of it being ugly.
ANyone have any good news they can share? Or Should we just see if we can find a new home for the beauty!
THANKS!!
