Meet Cpt Peckard:
And Riker:
They are the offspring of a rehomed potential Lemon Cuckoo Niederrheiner sire and hatchery quality Buff Orpington hens. The Niederrheiner has brought additional size, weight, light barring in coloration, and feather softness to the flock. I adore these two; one was meant to be a successor to the Niederrheiner and the other was meant for a friend who is now getting ducks vs. chickens! Oops... Wish they'd told me sooner!
I'm in a bit of a bind as these two are already big, handsome, named individuals who get along well with each other but not their father. I'd happily trade one for hatching eggs, a boy someone else doesn't want that I can process without emotional attachment, or a bunch of egg cartons I can make use of.
Either boy is available. Peckard is, as you imagine, the calm and steady boss. Riker has more attitude but I think he'd bloom with his own girls to look after.
