Pecking order or something else....

This is Ebby. She is on the bottom of the pecking order. I have seen the other girls go for her head at times. I see missing feathers and some dry blood spots. She is acting normal otherwise...please advise...

Hi! Unfortunately, it is normal for chickens at the top of the order to pick one the lower ones. My Barred Rock, Macy, gets picked on from the others, but otherwise she is happy most of the time. I was thinking about separating Macy and two other young chickens from the others that pick on them by putting them in a different coop at night. Anyways, I try to keep the mean girls occupied with treats so they won't pick on Macy. This is just a suggestion, you don't have to try it if you don't want to. Good luck if you do try it!

I think it happens more at bed time. And sometimes during snack time...and other days I see then napping fine together in the yard...
