Pecking order....

I had 7 chickens...6 hens and a cockeral that I rehomed this morning. So now I have 6 hens. They are all eight weeks old. Inside the hen house theres two roosts. Is it my imagination or will the lowest in the pecking order roost on the lower roost?

For now they will probably all roost together, or in two different groups. As they approach sexual maturity the pecking order will become more important and your bottom hen may be forced to roost further away. She may or may not roost lower.

I agree with Oldhens

I put my roosts at equal height - it seems to reduce squabbles, whilst allowing all the flock to roost on the same level
