Pecking Order?

I have 10 chicks, almost 4 weeks old. Two of them seem to be at each other a lot, they are the larger of the 10. They don't really hurt each other but sure push each other around a lot. I wonder if this means one of them will be the top hen, as I have read. I just love these chickens, first batch of new chicks in 20 years! Already starting to show some cute individuality. ~ Grace

I think you're right. A "pecking" order is being established. As long as no one is getting injured, I usually just watch the chick drama unfold. One of the entertaining things about chicks is that their fighting really doesn't seem mean. It just looks silly to see these little poofs push each other around and peep in anger. Enjoy!

Haha yes, they will fight a little but most of it is play. I love watching them.

They always remind me of those films of baby lions, bears, etc. play fighting.
