Hello All! :frow
I have some young pheasants I hatched out. I also have 2 more batches of pheasants in the incubator. My question would be what kind of peepers are best recommended for them? They are standard ringneck and melanistic ringneck. Where would I go about getting peepers? And at what age/size would be best to put them on the birds? I've seen different kinds, so I'm confused about what to get. My oldest flock is about a month old so I need to hurry if they need to be fitted already
THANKS For your wisdom!!

I have purchased a type of beak clasp and it is currently in transit, but has anybody used this kind and had success with pecking/picking/cannibalism?

Hi. I don't understand why you need peepers if they are all babies and there are no problems with bullying. Sorry I'm new to chickens and just don't understand why when there are no problems. Are pheasants different?

Pheasant are aggressive. If they see an open wound or something off with another pheasant they will Peck, and continue to Peck until the damage is irreparable. They will gang up. My young pheasants are already showing signs of aggression. Most photos you see of domesticated pheasants have peepers on to prevent sight induced aggression.

Ah thank you for the explanation. I have heard of using them for bully chickens. I have learned more today.

And Pheasants are cannibals! They will eat each other, all that's left is feathers and bones! No joke. They can be friendly to people but not to each other. I didn't use this type of peepers, we used some clip-ons from QC Supply. They seemed humane and were easy to take on and off with the special pliers.
