How does a pekin duck act before it lays its first egg...?? My pekin duck is 5 months old and she is acting wierd.. She can't walk and her pelvic bone is very wide. I just want to make sure she is not sick. Please help

If she cannot walk, she may be egg bound. Is there a drake? Sometimes they can seriously injure a duck. If there is a drake, separate them.

Get her into a tub of lukewarm water so she can float. Do not leave her alone - we don't know if she will be okay in the water, but she might be. If she can float upright, let her - for an hour or more if possible.

If she is egg bound, the floating may help - and she will need extra calcium. Some people give a Tums for calcium, you can dissolve a calcium citrate pill and feed that with a tiny bit of bread just to get it down her, or mash some thawed frozen peas to get the calcium in there.

A good duck vet is always best, and I know we cannot always get to one.

There is no Drake in there.. She with 3 2 month old ducks.. I will let you know if she gets better... Thank you so so much she is my baby and I don't know what I would do without her

She is in the water and she looks like she is not hurting as bad

Let her float in the water as long as you can - an hour or more - sometimes I have had to help ducks finish passing a soft egg by letting them float in the water. And get some calcium into her - 100 mg four times a day for a day or two, then extra 100 mg a day for several days after that.

I am not a vet, but those numbers come from what I have read here, and done myself.

Is it normal for them to put there chest and head in the water
