Pekin Duck Help

I have three four month old Pekins one "Drake" and two "Hens" I read online that once they turn four months they can start laying.
Is there anyway for me to tell if they're gonna lay soon or not? also it is the middle of Fall so will that have any affect on them laying?
One last thing if I took a hardboiled chicken egg and put it in the area I'd like them to lay will that help or does it not have any affect?

Generally when they start playing hop on top, they are getting ready - laying may begin within 6 weeks.

Crushed oyster shell free choice at that time is a big help.

Also excuse me for not understanding but what would crushed oyster shell do, and what would I do with it?

It is for the extra calcium they need when laying.
