My female pekin wasn't her cheerful self when I got home. She was slow to.come inside, no chattering, no sassiness. I've never seen her like this. She gets to her house and she just stood there and I noticed the involuntary bobbing. It was more to the right and she'd "moan", like a low deep purr. She was drinking a lot of water and just lethargic. She's my special girl. Has anyone heard of a neurological issue like that? I'm very worried.

I will tag @Miss Lydia for advice. Could the duck have eaten something bad in the water, a pond, creek, or elsewhere? Could she have been injured? A Vitamin E 400 IU soft gel can be given once a day orally to help with neurological issues or wry neck. Selenium which is found in scrambled egg can help with vitamin E uptake. I would keep giving her fluids. Can she stand and move her legs okay?

My husband said he didn't see anything unusual with her today, but there's definitely a problem. She's 5 months old and has recently started to lay, but she's been perfect. I read so many horror stories about ducks dying and don't know why.

I have a Pekin with a wobbly head. He has had it a long time. It was worse at one time. He has an injured leg right now but eats well. Still loves a bath but cannot ever reach his tail for feather oiling though he goes through the motions. I blow and fluff him dry. I think the wobbling is neurological caused by bacteria they can pick up. Antibiotics can help and he did get some. if active infection you can treat it but it could be the nerves are just damaged.

Thank you for your insight. I'm always watching her and she's only done it twice and the next morning she's ok. I just never know what to expect. It's like the first child....everything scares me.
