Hello, I am new here, and am SO grateful for this site. Cheers to all of you!
I'm actually a chicken owner, but have been fostering an amazing duck, Sherman! Watching him grow into himself has been incredible..
I was wondering if anyone knows about ducks mandible's? There appears to be a new kind of spot on the tip of his, just want to make sure it's nothing to worry about.

Appreciate any thoughts, thank you!!

Welcome to Duckdom!

What a looker!

It's a little fuzzy around the tip of his bill. Looks like the standard little "bean" there, to me.

Do you see the dog mask on the bill?

What a cutie pie, Sherman is just precious and that lil bean looks pretty normal to me.

ok great. Is that something that just comes with age? He didnt have it a couple weeks ago.
Thanks again!!

Hmmm, I think their bills change, and as they grow sometimes the changes are rapid. I wonder if what has happened is that the tip of the bill used to be pretty much across the whole width of the bill, and as he matured, the other part of the bill grew but the tip (bean) stayed about the same size.

I was looking at pictures of ducklings to see how they change.

By the way, I have always been fascinated by how their little bills grow. I look at my adult runners and try to see where the baby bill went.

A time lapse of duck development would be astounding, I think.

absolutely! That would be amazing to watch.
Thanks for the info.

Sherman is incredible. We swim together everyday, I taught him to race.
He just looks at me after kicking my ***, making sure I know I will never beat him & that he is the duck, haha..
