My pekin ducklings are about 5 weeks old and i've been feeding them duckling/chick feed since i got them.

does anyone know where i can get cheap duck/chick feed online that would be good for them?

i found this 10 pound bag of cracked corn…. can they eat that yet? would that be enough to replace me buying their feed? i've been buying their feed at 14$ per 5 lb bag.

Thanks!!

You mean $14 for 50 pounds, I hope.

Corn is not a good basis food. It is mostly calories, very few vitamins and very little protein compared to other food.

Mother Earth News has published some articles on growing your own food, and Joybilee Farm has published a recipe for making your own feed. Carol Deppe, in her book The Resilient Gardener has some ideas for alternative feeding plans in cases of emergency. Harvey Ussery has written a book on caring for backyard flocks and he has a section on feed.

So longer term, growing some of your own (or bartering for locally grown food) is definitely worth a try.

I just would not go all corn, especially when they are growing.

no 14 per five! I won't buy the cracked corn but do you know where I can buy more food that's cheaper??

thanks

Are you in the USA? that is outrageous 14 for 5 lbs. Go to TSC or a real feed store I know you can get feed cheaper than that. I pay 16.99 for a 50lb bag of Purina Flock raiser crumble at Tractor Supply. my feed store is about 3.00 higher/

Tractor Supply Co starter food is around $7 for smaller bags $16-$17 for 50 lb bags
