I have 7 hens that are about 1.5 to 2 years old. I am trying to figure out when I shoul start bringing up some new hens. When will they start to slow down and stop laying eggs. Are they like chickens?

My large breed ducks are usually the most productive between about 1-5 years old. They begin to decline in production at about 4.5-5 years old and it drops steadily over a period of a few years. I have never done any sort of a structured recording of production data, but I would say by the time they are about 8 years old, they are down to probably 10%-20% of their original production level. I have had ducks though that have continued to lay sporadically up until they are 8-10 years old.
