Pekins what type of shelter?

Hi we are new to ducks and have been keeping our Pekins (3) in the barn at night we set up a stall with the food water and bedding but they do not like to stay in there. Do you have any suggestions for what type of shelter ducks like? they are free range during the day in the farm yard.

How do they express that they don't like to stay in the barn? Is it difficult to herd them in at night? Do they make noise during the night?

The stall door of the stall we put them in at night has a gap of about 7-8 inches at the bottom every morning they are out in the main area of the barn rather than in the stall and some nights they do not want to go in at all.
