We recently switched our 18-19 week chickens from starter/grower realy fine feed to layer pellets. Now I see giant poops? Is that a concern, normal? We use deep litter in both run and coop and I never saw poops before; they just mixed into the litter rather than being noticeable. ..

I used to switch like you did but not anymore. Instead I switch them to Flock Raiser while others use All Purpose, All Flock, Multi Purpose etc... putting a container or Oyster Shells on the side with their grit.

I also ferment the feed, there's a great thread about it on here....Saves on wasted feed scattered all about, nutritional benefits & the best part there's less poop, it don't stink (cecal still stinks) & it's alot firmer.

I do DLM in my Enclosure, have a poop board under their roost with PDZ, there's a thread about it here too, it's so very low maintenance.

Hello,
I never switch from Grower...Its straight grower not starter..I supply oyster shell in a separate bowl once they lay eggs..Most layers need 18% protein in order to remain happy..Behavioural issues and egg production can suffer if balance is off...
