my chicks are 4 weeks old and i accidently bought pellet feed i have been feeding them mash when should i switch to pellets or should i stay on mash only

I'm not sure I follow what you are asking here. Are you feeding them starter/grower, or layer mash and now switching to layer pellets? They should be on starter until they begin to lay. The starter I am familiar with, either comes as mash, or crumbles (small broken pellets). You can feed either type of starter from day one. We prefer crumbles, as I think we have less feed getting lost and wasted in the litter. Hope this is the answer you were asking.

From what I've read you shouldnt feed them layer until the start laying (16-20weeks). They should be getting chcik starter. I'm sure someone out there has better answers. I didnt switch mine over untill almost 23 weeks.
