Pelvis Injury

I had a hen attacked by a dog 3 weeks ago. The vet believes she has pelvis fractures on both sides. She eats and drinks but does not use her legs. At week 3 she is more into flapping her wings to move around. But not standing and favors laying on one side. One leg tends to have some feeling/movement but the other side seems not to. She doesn't tolerate the sling much. Anyone with experience on how long this type of injury could take? And hopefully she just needs more healing time to get the legs moving. Vet was concerned that she could experience nerve damage.

Hi, and welcome to BYC!

I'm surprised your vet didn't give you more advice or prescribe something for her.

If she was mine, I'd be giving Poultry Cell vitamins in her water, and B-Complex. If you have/buy the human B-complex, give her about 1/2 pill once a day. If you get the drops, the stuff we have a full dropper is one human dose, so we gave 1/2 dropper for a hen, 1/4 dropper for a chick.

This will help with healing.
