Pen construction questions

On double deck pens, with 1/2" square wire floors; do you need to have a dropping pan under the top level? Seems like the downstairs residents would get a lot of crap on them if not. My pen is going to be on a concrete floor and I would really prefer the droppings to go to the floor to be shoveled up instead of fooling with pans.

Also; this pen would be inside my barn, no more than 25-30' from the chicken run, far enough away?

Dropping Pans Are A Nicety Not A Necessity And 25-30 Ft Seperation Should Be Sufficient-- But! You Still Should Use Biologic Issolation Yourself So You Dont Carry The Chicken Bugs To Them... Easiest Way, Quail Have Seperate Food/ Water Utensils And Storage... When Feeding Time Comes Start With Your Quail Then Move On To The Rest Of Your Flock... If You Must Go Back To Quail For Any Reason Hand Washing Etc Before Reaching In Again After Dealing With Other Poultry
