Pennsylvania winter

I am very new to all of this, I'm only now beginning my research and to build a coop for the spring time. But what do chickens do in the winter? Do they need special arrangements or insulation in the coops for wintertime?

Actually you are in a snow belt- big thing is draft protection and blizzard shelter, oh and keeping the water from freezing.
