On February 14 I got 6 chicks from the TSC (hatch date of the 11th) from the straight run bin labelled as featured breed: black Wyandotte. I knew we were taking our chances on the sex and I wasn't set on breed, just a decent/good layer.
Two of them can not be Wyandottes. At first I though Penny was a barred rock, but she has white/pinkish legs with grey in the front. Eyes are an orange/yellow. And she has prominent red single comb and wattles. So not a Dominique either. And she's our biggest bird at now 9.5 weeks.
So I'm thinking Penny is a Peter, but what breed?
Penny's best friend is Nugget. Also not a Wyandotte. She also has white/pink legs with grey in the front and has orange/yellow eyes. She's smaller than Penny and darker. She does have some white but very little. Also I couldn't get a good pic but she has about two or three whit feathers under her wings that we only see when she stretches.
And because I think he's funny here's Vera saying hello
