) any who, i have a small garden planted right behind my house with habanero, jalapeno, tabasco, and cayenne peppers. also we have maters of different sorts (all the big stuff is planted across the street). alright back to the point. the hen went straight for the peppers and ate a bush full of habaneros before i could get to her, so i was wondering if i should be concerned? so far so good she doesn't look uncomfortable. do you think its just gonna give her a good cleaning out?

will it affect the taste of her eggs? if so i wouldn't be upset because i eat peppers on my eggs anyway.

Chickens don't notice the oil in peppers. It shouldn't do anything. Some give pepper to the chickens to make them lay better. I suppose a lot of pepper could potentially impact egg taste but not likely. It would have to be something absorbed and used by the body to then end up in the egg. For example feeding fish can give a fishy taste but it's the omega fatty acids that cause it. You can get a fishy taste from feeding too much flax seed or nuts. It's vitamins and minerals in the diet that are passed on to the egg so fresh peppers should have the same impact on egg color and taste as eating most any other vegetation.

no this is good medicine for the chicken
she must be wormy or getting coccidiosis
as that is why people feed cayanne pepper and your peppers will do the job also

if using caayanne pepper you should put 3 ybsp per gallon of feed as only feed source

any questions email me
