Percent of roosters in a brood?

Has anyone has much experience with hens laying then hatching a brood? I have been letting my hens do so in hopes of increasing the number of pullets in my flock and keep the flock closed. Unfortunately for me, the percent roos in each brood is running 75% or more. Is this the norm? Is there anyway to effect this percentage to increase the number of females a hen will hatch? At the very least I would expect more of a 50-50 result in males and females, but this is not what Im getting.

There are therorys that in the wild the female ratio I think will increase in times of famon (sp?) There was a study done on wild horses in australia I think that showed that the population of foals had an increase if fillys during hard times, I think that is what it was.. heck I could have it backwards LOL maybe I will try to search the article again and see, but really thou, are we going to starve our hens to get more pullets LOL not me , they would go on strike if they didnt get their sunday yogart and cut up strawberries...

That is so interesting and I think I recall something similar, but I could not remember exactly how it went. This explains my roo ratio. Everyone tells me my chickens eat better than I do! I love them and would give them the world if I could but since I cant, I feed them as if they were kings, queens and little princes and princesses.
