Pet Muscovy eggs - are they laying too many?

i have two pet muscovy females that are indoor/outdoor. They are spoiled rotten by my family members.

They just turned 1 year old last week. I just realized they laid from June til now very consistently except for about 2 weeks in November, so they laid about 180 eggs each. I was told that muscovys normally lay 50-125 eggs a year so I'm wondering if this is within the range of normal and if it could negatively affect my babies (named Kitty & Puppy).

I don't think it will negatively affect them...
They're cute! They look like my sodapop, who is officially female now as she laid about 36 chicken size eggs - smaller then speedys first batch even!

Where did you get these awesome egglayers! I want a few of them. I like allot of what I hear about Muscovy's but only want eggs (not interested in meat) but most say they don't lay all that well.

Mine sure don’t lay like that too busy going broody! Kitty and Puppy are adorable. Just make sure they have best feed you can afford and plenty of oyster shell on the side to give them any calcium they may need to lay all those eggs.

Isn't that what layer feed does? I was under the impression that oyster shell on top of layer feed is too much calcium.

You give them oyster shell on the side, and if they need more calcium, they'll eat it. If they're getting enough calcium already, they won't eat it.

Even with layer they can still need extra calcium they can get depleted when they lay so many eggs. Oyster shell isn't expensive so having some set out close to feed bowl gives them opportunity to get extra calcium when they need it. I see My Runners eating it a lot.

I have a dedicated small bowl with drain holes in the bottom for oyster shells. I had to wire it to my fence because they kept tipping it over and it's working out great. Just used 1/2 a soda bottle. They do to it when they need to.
