What a beautiful hand! Oh, and a good looking quail too.

It is a cute little feller. Is that a button quail?

Oh!
How sweet!!

Petri is all grown up now and beautiful!!
Now how did you get it to sit in your hand ! LOL!
From the looks of things it's fairly tame. Is it? That is so neat!

I'm glad you posted this, I was wondering how it was doing! Petri looks like He's(?) doing well!

Orange Ribbon,
Petri is an only child, and with the button quail, a lot don't survive, so it's extra special! duckncover had posted pics when it hatched and a few along the way.

I wouldn't call him tame but he'll sit on your hand for a few seconds before he jumps off to go to the floor. I let him roam around the bird room picking up the spilled seed while I'm in there feeding the flock. He's my little maintenance crew. It's too bad that he doesn't have a mate...still. The last batch of eggs I got were all duds. Eh, he's probably used to it by now. Now only if he'd stop changing colors every couple of weeks, hahaha.

Good luck with that one! I cant get over how much these little stinkers change.

I'm tempted to let a pair run around our bird room too. Even if he's not real tame, yours is tamer than most.

So glad he's well.. Keep us posted!

Once they get to 11 weeks we don't have to worry much about any more changes. HOWEVER if your bird starts glowing green at night we have a problem!

Get that bird into a breeding plan quick!

I read somewhere that the Chinese used to use cots as hand warmers in Winter. A glowing green bird would have a cool market as a night light!
