Pheasant chick care

My grandpa gave me some pheasant chicks out of the blue last year, and I did not really have time to do much research on caring for them. Needless to say I was not ready for the slaughter fest, I read a few suggestions to keep them from killing each other but none worked. Now the survivors are laying and my dad popped some of the eggs in the gqf while I was on a trip. So it looks like I will have more pheasant chicks this year. I was looking for advice on preventing a repeat of last year. Does anyone know good ways to keep the from killing each other? Also any tips in general on keeping them?

I guess I should add that they are ringnecks.

The more space you can give them the better. Also give them a gamebird starter which has animal protein rather than plant protein - most gamebird feed has the animal where a lot of chicken feed is plant protein. Some people also utilize blinders when they have a problem with pecking.

For me, physical obstructions in the brooder are critical. This can be accomplished with fire wood mazes with tiling roofs - once outside straw bales and pine boughs.
You can never have enough dried leaves in an enclosure either.
Babycakes in the brooder with 5% Ultrakibble supplement ( with animal protein and additional nutrients absent in conventional fare) and optimal foragecakes once they are out. One babycake will be be enough for a dozen pheasant chicks for one month- take it out each evening. The small Foragecakes should last a dozen juvenile pheasants two months- again - remove each evening but rinse it off every few days- put it out in a no tip bow preferably off the ground and move it from place to place to encourage natural foraging behavior- which includes searching for food- it's behavioral enrichment.
