Hello all -- our little city neighborhood has a pheasant that just showed up this weekend, and is still wandering our shared yard space. We do not know the best thing to do about it -- just let it wander and enjoy? Or is it best to make an effort to return it to a more wooded and wild area by calling Animal Control? Thanks for any insight! We are all befuddled, although it is quite a sight!!

What an interesting surprise!

Maybe call animal control and let them know there is a wild pheasant. I would stress that you want what is best for him and that you are in no way confining him.

I think he is very pretty.

Maybe @007Sean will know how to handle the visitor.

Thanks for the replies all -- it was reassuring to know we didn't need to rush it out to the woods immediately!! We are leaving it as is, bc it might be a neighbor's new venture; and my husband was speaking with someone who grew up in our neighborhood and said she remembered there used to be lots of wild pheasants here! So, it may have wandered over from a nearby woody area. It was an interesting visitor!!
