Anyone have any experience with raising pheasant hens (as pets) in a coop/flight pen with pet chickens? I am expanding my chicken run and adding a taller flight pen area off the back of the coop that will encorporate a tree but will still be completly fenced in since I understand pheasants will not come home like a chicken.

Do adult pheasants need a different diet than a chicken?

Thanks for your help

As a kid when we put pheasants with the chickens, the pheasants always died, but that is just my experience.

hmm...bad news

Do you have any idea why they didn't make it? Getting picked on? Too much going on in the pen when chickens are in it? Getting to the food issues?

I just aquired two hens, one is a yellow golden and the other is a lady amherst - or so I was told. I wanted to add them to the chicken coop but sounds like they might do better in their own home...

anyone else with experience with mixing chickens and pheasants?
