Is it ok to use 2 inch Galvanized hex wire for the sides of the cages. I know that you can use 2 inch for the netting on top, I am just not sure about the wire on the sides.

We use chick wire on 4x16 cattle panels, and haven't had any issues. The only thing I would worry about is something reaching in. A few years ago we had some predator get a lot of chicks by reaching trough chicken wire. We use 2inch netting on the tops of our pens and the only issue we have had is our Reeves cock getting his foot tangled.
