New pheasant owner, question about cocci. The young pheasants(2 days old) are near the chickens, I know that this is a no no according to some, the guy I got them from said its OK as long as you treat them for cocci. The local stores had no medicated gamebird starter. So I got non medicated and got some corid to put in their water. The amprolium is not supposed to be used with bentonite. All the food has sodium bentonite in it. What does the mixture cause, and do I need to immediately use the corid, or will the chicks be fine until I can find some medicated starter? Any help is appreciated.

Cocci is the last thing i'd worry about from them being in contact with chickens, since you can actually cure it. I'd be a lot more concerned about coryza, MG, blackhead or any of the un-cureables these are the diseases that we worry about when we tell people to keep biosecurity between chickens and game birds. They can't be tested for vaccinated against or cured.

Cocci is almost always environmental, keep your brooder clean and keep clean feeders and waterers and you'll likely never have an issue.

Bentonite just lowers the efficacy of amprolium from what I've read.
